CVMA Statement on the Federal Automotive Strategy
Statement by Brian Kingston, President & CEO of the Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers’ Association:
The Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers’ Association (CVMA) welcomes the government’s automotive strategy announced today. Funding to support renewed purchase incentives and a robust charging infrastructure strategy will help continue to drive EV adoption, and CVMA members are well-positioned to support the shift to electrification through diverse product offerings. The repeal of the EV sales mandate provides welcome policy stability to Canada’s automotive industry, and the CVMA will continue to work with the government on updated emissions regulations that help Canada achieve its climate goals.
Forthcoming changes to the remissions program will require careful review and consultation as the top priority for the automotive industry is the removal of U.S. tariffs and the renewal of CUSMA.
