The CVMA welcomes additional investments to boost zero-emission vehicle adoption

November 30, 2020 STATEMENT

Statement by Brian Kingston, President & CEO of the Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers’ Association:

“The CVMA welcomes additional investments in zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) charging infrastructure and the Incentives for Zero-Emission Vehicles program announced today in the Fall Economic Statement. Boosting the adoption of ZEVs in Canada requires a combination of financial incentives, accessible charging infrastructure and more education about electric vehicles.

“As part of the government’s stimulus plan to invest up to $100 billion over the next three years we urge the introduction of a vehicle scrappage program to accelerate the adoption of a full range of newer vehicles that provide increased fuel efficiency and safety. Such a program would drive the economic recovery from the pandemic while helping to achieve Canada’s climate objectives.”
