CVMA statement on the repeal of the Québec ICE ban and changes to the ZEV standard
Statement by Brian Kingston, President & CEO of the Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers’ Association:
“The CVMA welcomes today’s announcement that the Québec government is repealing the ban on gasoline-powered vehicles and lowering annual zero-emission vehicle sales targets.
“Québec’s ZEV sales targets are unrealistic and damaging. ZEV sales have collapsed in Quebec despite widespread vehicle availability. The ZEV standard is forcing automakers to restrict internal combustion engine vehicle sales, resulting in less vehicle choice, higher prices, and dealership job losses.
“We urge the Québec government to repeal the ZEV standard and focus efforts on helping consumers make the switch to electric.”
