Transport Canada report finds zero-emission vehicle inventory levels are meeting demand despite supply chain challenges
In the latest study commissioned by Transport Canada on zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) supply, Dunsky Energy + Climate Advisors finds that ZEV availability in Canada continues to meet demand with 8 of 10 provinces at target supply levels or over-supplied. The report shows that ZEV sales reached record levels in 2021 despite global supply chain challenges that reduced overall vehicle inventories across Canada by 79 per cent.
“As one of Canada’s leading clean technology sectors the automotive industry is bringing new ZEVs to the market at a record pace,” said Brian Kingston, President & CEO of the Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers’ Association (CVMA). “Achieving higher ZEV sales levels depends on the federal government ensuring Canadians have access to convenient ZEV charging infrastructure and competitive purchase incentives”.
