Transport Canada report finds zero-emission vehicle inventory levels are meeting or exceeding consumer demand across Canada
The latest study commissioned by Transport Canada on zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) supply finds that ZEV availability in Canada is at or above target supply levels in 9 of 10 provinces. The report finds that ZEV inventories have increased significantly with 4 of 10 provinces over-supplied with ZEVs.
“The report from Transport Canada undermines the government’s rationale for a ZEV sales mandate premised on a lack of vehicle availability” said Brian Kingston, President & CEO of the Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers’ Association (CVMA). “Automakers are bringing record numbers of ZEVs to market. Without stronger federal efforts to address the main barriers to electrification, primarily a large and growing charging infrastructure gap, the mandated sales targets will not be achieved”.
