Operations and Structure

With the goal of fostering a strong, dynamic automotive industry in Canada, representatives from CVMA member companies meet regularly to discuss and formulate policy positions on issues relevant to the automotive industry as a whole and in response to government regulations.

The CVMA utilizes 16 Standing Committees or Ad hoc working groups to address industry issues relating to virtually all policy fields having an impact on the well-being of Canada’s auto industry. Where appropriate, Association members develop proactive initiatives for the benefit of industry, government and the public.

The priorities of the Association are set by the Board of Directors, which is composed of the most senior executives from each member company. The Board meets once a year, usually in the second week of February for the Annual General Meeting of the members and to hold its Board of Directors meeting. The policy priorities of the Association are reviewed quarterly by a smaller Executive Committee of the Board.

The Chair of the Board rotates every two years amongst the chief executive officers of each member company.
